This year was an epic year at MVPS. In fact, at the very beginning of the school year during Convocation, Head of School Dr Brett Jacobsen, taking a cue from the old testament story of David & Goliath, encouraged the community to Step Up, Stand Out, & Face our Giants. Looking back on the remarkable school year--the MV community did just that. There were so many wins.

Highlighting some those wins as well as preparing us for one of the most important years at the school to date is none other than Mount Vernon’s top fundraiser--Chief Philanthropy Officer Rosalyn Merrick.

In our quest to both examine and realize how might school reflect real life, we have been on a journey in the Upper School guiding students to discover their passions while making an impact. One of the most visible ways we do that is through iProject. In this episode of MVStories we sit down with students and Becky Tussey who oversees the program to talk about their transformational experiences.

Carrying out an essential practice at MVPS of encouraging students to connect learning to the real world, the School launched a new humanities program in the Upper School this year starting with Humanities Grade 9.

Within the class students explore literature, history, social studies, art, music, philosophy, and culture in an integrated fashion. In this episode of MV Stories, the teachers of the course talk about the experience; in addition we also hear from one of the students who shares her perspective about Humanities 9.

One of the most hands-on learning experiences we have launched to date is the School’s Design, Maker and Engineering program. As more and more jobs of the future point toward STEM careers, the new maker spaces we have recently created allow students to work in the STEM field NOW. So in this episode we are sitting down with the faculty who are helping making that happen.
